Germany host of the 2022 G7

The 48th G7 (Group of Seven) was held 26-28 June, 2022. The host: Germany. It was held in the Bavarian Alps, at Schloss Elmau. Countries of the G7 are Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Italy, UK, USA, and European Union. It was Germany’s turn to take presidency this year, which it did on Jan 1, 2022. So the host was Germany.

Since Oct 2021, U.S.-founded Politico has been owned by German publisher Axel Springer, SE.
Politico, founded in 2007 as an American-based political journalism company, was acquired for over approximately $1 billion by Axel Springer SE last year. It has offices based in north america among other locations, and also europe. German offices are in Frankfurt and Berlin. The news company has websites based in USA (politico.com) and also Europe (politico.eu).

Federal Chancellor of Germany meets U.S. President Joe Biden in Washington

Olaf Scholz, the Federal Chancellor of Germany, met with U.S. President Joe Biden in Washington on Monday 7 feb, in his first such U.S. visit in his capacity as Germany’s Federal Chancellor.
Among other issues, the G7 was discussed. Germany takes the G7 Presidency this year.
Germany and the United States have close links in terms of economic and cultural ties.

Annalena Baerbock has been confirmed by the German Greens party as their chancellor candidate for the federal German election that takes place in September this year. The Greens confirmed her as their candidate at a party conference that took place on Saturday June 12, 2021, Germany.
